About the Birth Center
As the first non-hospital birth center in Santa Cruz county in over four decades, we offer expectant-parents a safe, comfortable place during natural labor and delivery. For families who prefer not to birth at the hospital or at their home, Full Moon is a great option.
Our birth center offers a comfortable place for childbirth under the care of a midwife. She provides prenatal care, postpartum care, and well woman care in addition to attending the births of the babies. It’s a place where people choose to go to be in control of their own experience, where interventions are avoided whenever possible, and food and drinks are encouraged during labor.
Full Moon Family Wellness & Birth Center is owned and operated by Sunshine Tomlin, LM, a licensed midwife practicing in Santa Cruz and the surrounding areas since 2005. Her vision includes making-out-of hospital midwifery care accessible to families, especially for those who don’t want to or can’t have a home birth.
